Why does Codus say I have too many active devices?
Check Billing with the same GitHub account as your desktop before buying another licence. The warning can mean that your available licences are in use, but Codus 0.2.186 could also show it for an account without access and display example computer names. 0.2.187 or later removes those example names and shows the subscription warning for missing access or a zero-device allowance.
If Codus cannot establish that your allowance is full, it says Device access not confirmed and offers Check billing. This keeps the access check in place without claiming that unseen computers are using your plan. Device details update automatically, and long lists scroll so the recovery buttons remain reachable.
Check the account first
The website and desktop can be signed into different GitHub accounts. A paid plan on the website does not give a second GitHub account access automatically.
- On Billing, check the GitHub username and licence allowance.
- If desktop Settings is available, open gear → See all settings → Cloud account and compare the username.
- If the desktop uses the wrong account, choose Sign in to a different account on the warning. Make sure the browser uses the GitHub account that holds your Codus access before approving sign-in.
- Return to Codus while online and allow about a minute for it to check access.
Changing the Cloud sign-in does not delete your project files or transfer your subscription. It can require the same Cloud account to sign in again on its other desktops. The full-screen warning in 0.2.186 does not display the current username and can block Settings; contact support if you cannot establish which account it uses.
If your real devices are using the allowance
Under Active devices on Billing, quit Codus on a computer you are no longer using, or click Deactivate beside that computer. An app left running can claim its licence again. Refresh Billing after about two minutes.
The section appears only when your account has access and has active devices to show. It lists your account's devices, not your entire team's. Computer names can differ from the model printed on the hardware.
If you see Studio iMac and MacBook Air in a 0.2.186 warning but not in Billing, do not assume they are real allocations or buy another licence because of those names. Update to 0.2.187 or later and check the account that holds your access. The warning fix does not transfer a plan or give an unpaid account access.
How do I know it worked?
The desktop warning clears and you can use Codus with the intended account. If it stays locked, send support your app version, the exact warning and the GitHub username shown on Billing. Do not send passwords or sign-in tokens. Reinstalling alone does not correct a different account being signed in.
