How do I change my agent's tone and UI style?
Open the full settings page and click Agent behaviour. Below the sliders are two more controls: Persona / vibe sets how your agent talks to you, and UI fidelity / style sets the look your agent aims for when it builds interfaces. Both are defaults for every project, and both take effect with no restart.
Persona / vibe
Persona / vibe is a row of four choices for your agent's tone. Click one to select it; a short description of the selected tone shows underneath.
- Normal: "Plain, professional tone."
- Banter: "UK pub-mate: swears, takes the piss, plain English."
- Teasing: "Warm, cheeky, flattering, pun-heavy."
- Smooth: "Charming and flirty, tasteful innuendo."
New installs use Normal. This changes only the tone of what the agent says. It does not change how carefully it does the work.
UI fidelity / style
UI fidelity / style is a two-dimensional pad that tells your agent what kind of design to aim for when it builds a page or screen. The description at the top reads:
Pick an industry, then drag the dot. The agent builds UI as a BLEND of the nearby references — not a copy. → bolder, ↑ higher fidelity.
Here is how to use it:
- Along the top are industry tabs (like SaaS & Product, Fintech, Developer tools, AI, and more). Click the one closest to what you are building. This sets which reference brands the pad draws from.
- Inside the box, drag the dot. The horizontal axis runs from restrained on the left to expressive on the right. The vertical axis runs from functional at the bottom to high-fidelity at the top.
- Under the box, the Blend: line shows which references your dot is closest to, each with a percentage. The agent builds in a mix of those, rather than copying any single one.
New installs start at a restrained, high-fidelity position in the SaaS & Product tab.
Pinning references
Each reference in the Blend: line has a small checkbox. Tick one or more to pin them, which limits the blend to only the references you checked. Untick to go back to the automatic nearby blend.
Extra style rules
Below the pad is a toggle (▶ Extra style rules) that opens a list where you can type your own design rules, like the example placeholder "e.g. always dark mode; use Satoshi; no rounded corners". Click + Add style rule to add one and the ✕ to remove one.
The bigger pad
Click ⤢ Expand to open the same pad in a larger window with more room to aim. Close it with the ✕ or press Esc.
How do I know it worked?
There is no Save button; your choice is stored as you make it. The persona changes the tone of the agent's next reply, and the style pad shapes the next interface it builds.
Common problems
- The style looks different in one project. A project can override the global style. See Do my settings apply to every project or only one?.
- The dot snapped to a new spot when I changed the industry tab. That is expected. Each industry has its own set of references, so codus keeps the dot among real brands when you switch tabs.
