My phone says "No live desktops" but codus is running

Your desktop has stopped checking in with the cloud, even though the app still looks fine. The Quadrants tab only shows a desktop that has checked in within about the last minute, while the List tab shows your saved projects forever, which is why you can see the project but not the desktop. The fix is on the desktop: sign out and back in from Settings, then Cloud account. Your phone catches up within a few seconds.

Why the two tabs disagree

On your phone, List and Quadrants measure different things.

• List is your saved folders. It never expires, so a project stays here whether or not the desktop is connected.
• Quadrants needs your desktop to have checked in recently. Miss that for about a minute and it drops off, even while codus is still open and working.

Seeing the project but not the live desktop is exactly that gap. It does not mean you are signed in to the wrong account on your phone. Both tabs read the same GitHub account, so if the account were wrong the project would not show either.

Fix it on the desktop

Do this on the computer running codus, in order.

1. Look at the title bar for a "reconnecting" chip. If codus shows an amber reconnecting chip along the top, it has lost its connection and is trying to get it back. Its own tooltip says so. Often it recovers by itself. If it sits there, do step 3.

2. If there is no chip, check you are still signed in. No chip does not prove all is well, because the chip also shows nothing when the desktop is signed out. Open Settings, then Cloud account. If it reads Not signed in (anonymous) with a Sign in with GitHub button, that is the problem: a signed-out desktop sends nothing to the cloud.

3. Sign out and back in. In Settings, Cloud account, click Sign out, then Sign in with GitHub. This is the fix for both the stuck chip and the signed-out state.

How do I know it worked?

Your phone refreshes every few seconds, so once the desktop is signed back in, it reappears on the Quadrants tab almost straight away, listed under its machine name. From there you can push a task to it.

Still stuck

If the desktop shows as signed in with no reconnecting chip, and the phone still shows no live desktops after a minute, that is worth reporting. Tell us the machine name and the GitHub account you are signed in as on both.
