Why does my Brain say "codus could not approve this Slack action"?

If your Brain refuses most of what it tries to do and blames Slack, even though nobody sent it a message from Slack, update to Codus 0.2.191 or later. That version fixes the cause we reproduced on Windows. Update through Settings → Updates, then fully quit Codus (including from the system tray) and open it again.

What was happening

Every Brain action passes a safety check. The check exists for messages that reach the Brain from Slack, so that someone holding a phone cannot make the Brain do something harmful on your computer. Before 0.2.191, Windows ran that check by starting a separate helper for every single action. That took four to six seconds each time. When the Brain ran several actions at once, most of them ran out of time, and a check that runs out of time refuses the action. We reproduced it on Windows with no Slack request at all: five of six simultaneous actions were refused.

From 0.2.191 the check finishes instantly when no Slack request is active, so ordinary Brain work is never refused by it. While the Brain is answering a message from Slack, the full check still runs and still blocks anything it cannot approve.

If it still happens after updating

  1. Check Settings → Updates shows 0.2.191 or later. A notice inside a terminal does not tell you which Codus version is installed.
  2. Fully quit Codus, including from the system tray, and open it again so the Brain starts with the updated check.
  3. If a Slack request is genuinely being answered, some actions are refused on purpose. Wait for that reply to finish.

Do not delete files from the Brain's folder to get past the message. A marker there is what keeps a real Slack request guarded.

Report a repeated failure

Send support the Codus version from Settings → Updates, whether you use Slack with Codus, and a screenshot showing the refused action and the lines just above it.
