Where do I find the finished video, and how do I get it out?
Open the project and click the Versions tab. Every rendered cut lands there, newest first, each with a quality-check verdict and an Open video button to play it and a Reveal in Finder button to grab the file. codus does not upload anywhere for you, so once you are happy, reveal the file in Finder and publish it wherever you like.
Before you start
- The team has to have finished a render. Run it first (see How do I run the video team?), or check the Team row is done.
- If Versions says "No renders yet", the team has not produced a cut for this project yet.
Step 1: Open the Versions tab
Open the project and click Versions. You will see a card for each render, with the newest at the top. Each card shows:
- A short version name and label.
- When it was made.
- A quality-check badge: QC pending, QC pass or QC flag (more on these below).
- The file's location inside the project.
- Any notes the checker left.
Step 2: Watch it or grab the file
On any render card:
- Open video plays the render in your Mac's video player.
- Reveal in Finder opens the project folder with the file selected, ready to drag into an upload, an email, or wherever it is going.
What the quality-check badge means
QC is the team's independent check on the final render.
- QC pass. The checker watched and measured the render and it came through clean.
- QC flag. The checker found something worth your eye. The note on the card says exactly what. The team usually fixes flags itself and registers a new render, so look for a newer card above it.
- QC pending. No verdict yet, usually because the render is very fresh or the checker did not run at that edit scope. Lighter, quicker edits skip the independent second pass on purpose.
Where the files actually live
Everything for a project sits in one folder on your Mac. The Files tab is the plain view of it.
- Open folder opens the whole project folder in Finder.
- + Import footage copies more source clips in.
Your source footage and every render live here. Scratch working files the team makes along the way stay out of your way.
How do I know it worked?
A render shows in Versions with a QC pass badge, and Open video plays a clean cut that matches your brief.
Common problems
"Versions says no renders yet." The team has not finished a cut. Make sure the run has completed, or start it with Run team.
"Open video or Reveal in Finder does nothing, or shows an error." The file may have been moved or removed outside codus. Check the Files tab to see what is actually in the project folder.
"I want it uploaded to YouTube or sent somewhere." codus makes the file and hands it to you, but does not publish it. Use Reveal in Finder and upload it yourself.
"The render has a QC flag." Read the note on the card to see what the checker caught. If the team is still running it will usually fix it and add a newer render above. If it has stopped, run it again and mention the fix in the note.
