Can I ask the Brain to organise or close workspace tabs?
In Codus 0.2.183 or later, you can ask a Claude or Codex Brain to colour, link or close workspace tabs, alongside its existing create, rename, switch and move controls. An older installation may be able to rename a tab but have no tool to close it.
Before you start
Check the installed Codus version and release notes. A workspace tab contains a grid of quadrants. It is different from a Brain conversation tab or a web page in the browser preview. Name the project and workspace clearly, particularly when several tabs have the same name.
Ask for the change
- Click the brain button, then select the intended Brain.
- Enter your request and send it. For example: "Make the Atlas Brain and its workspace tab purple", "Link Atlas to its project quadrant and open that tab when I click the Brain", or "Rename the Atlas workspace tab to Website".
- Read the Brain's result and check the visible colour, name or Project settings…. Colour and link changes do not interrupt running agents. The new controls are separate from the instructions that explain how to use them; installing instructions alone cannot give an older app a missing tool.
Close a workspace tab
An explicit request such as "Close the Atlas workspace tab and stop its terminals" authorises that action. A request to tidy names or colours does not authorise stopping work. The Brain checks which tab, terminals and queued messages would be affected before closing it.
Closing stops that tab's agents, development servers, workers and extra terminals, and removes its previews. Project files, tasks, Done entries, notes and saved provider conversation files remain. Saved conversations are not a promise that the previous live processes will keep running or resume automatically. Undelivered messages are retained outside the active inbox so they are not sent to a new project later.
The Brain cannot close the last workspace tab in a window. It also waits while an account or provider switch, or an agent wake-up, is in progress. Another window's tabs and unrelated agents remain in place.
How do I know it worked?
The named workspace tab disappears, its terminals stop and the other workspaces remain available. If the Brain reports incomplete closure, some terminals may already have stopped. Inspect the remaining tab and the reported error before retrying; an incomplete result is not a successful close.
Common problems
The Brain says the close tool is missing. Check that Codus is 0.2.183 or later, then check whether the Brain's app connection is working. An older app or disconnected session can lack the tool even when the Brain has read instructions describing it.
I meant to close one browser page. Say that explicitly. Closing a workspace tab stops the work inside it; closing a page in the preview does not close the workspace.
