I can't run a task I created on my phone
There is no Execute button because no live desktop currently has that task's folder open. codus only lets you run a task on a machine that can actually do it, so where the button would be, you see the grey word offline instead. Get the right desktop connected with that folder open, and Execute appears.
Why there is no run button
Execute does not run on your phone. It tells a desktop to do the work. So codus shows it only when a live desktop has that folder open.
When it does not, the button is replaced:
- In the task list and the task detail, you see the grey word offline where Execute would be.
- On the smaller quadrant cards, it is simply not shown.
So the button is not hidden off the edge of the screen. In this state it was never there to press. On a phone the word offline cannot show its explanation, which is why it looks like nothing more than a dead label.
How to actually run it
- Open codus on the machine whose project this task belongs to.
- Make sure that project's folder is open in a quadrant there.
- Check your phone shows the desktop as live. If it does not, see My phone says "No live desktops" but codus is running.
- Execute now appears on the task. Tap it.
The task moves through queued, then starting, then running as the desktop picks it up. You do not have to leave the app open on your phone.
If you cannot reach Submit when creating a task
Different problem, worth knowing. On a short phone screen, the New task box can run off the bottom, and once the keyboard opens over the text field, Submit task can end up below the visible area with nothing to scroll.
If that happens, close the keyboard first by tapping outside the text field. That usually brings Cancel and Submit task back into view. This is a rough edge on small screens that we are tidying up.
How do I know it worked?
The task's label changes from proposed or offline to queued, then running, and you can follow its progress from your phone.
