On a Mac
Open the .dmg
Double-click the downloaded file. Drag codus into your Applications folder, then eject the disk image.
Launch from Applications
Open codus.app the normal way. macOS will recognise the signature from Search Intelligence Ltd — no scary warnings, no right-click → Open.
Connect Claude Code or Codex
On first launch, sign in to your Claude Code or Codex account from Settings → Agents. That's the engine codus drives — bring your own subscription. (codus cloud sign-in is separate and optional.)
Stays up to date
codus checks for new versions on launch and silently downloads in the background. You'll see a one-tap 'Restart to install' when ready.
On Windows
Check the signature first
Before opening codus-x64-setup.exe, right-click it in Downloads, then Properties, then Digital Signatures. One signature from SEARCH INTELLIGENCE LTD with a timestamp, and Details must read 'This digital signature is OK'. Anything else: delete it and download again.
Run the installer
Edge may hold the file as 'isn't commonly downloaded' (Keep, then Keep anyway) and Windows may show 'Windows protected your PC' (More info, then Run anyway): the certificate is new, so SmartScreen has no reputation for it yet. Keep 'Only for me' and the suggested folder, then Install. codus opens on its own when it finishes.

Install Claude Code from PowerShell first, then sign in to it from codus. That's the engine codus drives — bring your own subscription. The setup guide that opens with your download has the exact command.

codus is a powerful tool
codus runs shell commands, edits files, installs packages, rewrites git history, accesses your local network and calls third-party APIs on your behalf — sometimes acting on prompts you wrote, sometimes on AI-generated plans, and sometimes on system prompts, default agent rules, pre-built tool configurations or autonomous routines that ship with the Software. You alone are responsible for every operation that occurs on your systems once you install codus, regardless of whether it was triggered by a prompt you wrote, by a default that ships with the Software, by an AI-generated decision, or by an autonomous routine.
Your responsibilities
- Keep current backups of any code or data you expose to codus.
- Operate inside version control with branch protection on default branches.
- Scope API keys, deploy keys and credentials to least privilege.
- Review every plan, command and diff before approving execution.
- Do not use codus on safety-critical or regulated systems.
