Why can't my teammate get codus working?
Almost always because they were invited but never given a seat. Inviting someone lets them join your organisation; a seat is the separate step that gets them the app. Go to app.trycodus.com, click team, find them in the Seats panel and click Assign seat. Then send them back to download codus again.
Before you start
You must be an owner or admin to assign a seat. If you cannot see the team page, you are a member, and you need to ask an owner to do this.
Start with where they got stuck
The fix is different depending on how far they got.
They cannot download it
Downloading codus needs an active subscription or a seat on your plan. Without one, the download sends them to the billing page instead of giving them a file.
This is the most common case, and it is confusing from their side, because nothing on that page tells them a seat is what is missing. Assign them a seat, then have them try the download again.
They downloaded it but cannot sign in
codus signs everyone in through GitHub. Two things go wrong here.
They are signed in as the wrong GitHub account. This catches people who have a personal account and a work account. Ask them which username they signed in as and compare it with their row on your team page. If those differ, they need to sign out and sign back in as the invited account. Invitations match on the GitHub username, so a different account is a different person as far as codus is concerned.
They are not on your team at all. The invitation never completed. Invitations match on the GitHub username, so a typo means nothing happens and nobody is told. Re-invite them, checking the spelling against their GitHub profile, and remember it is their username and not their email address.
codus opens, but a whole area is missing
If they can work normally but something you told them about is nowhere on screen, that is not a fault. Parts of codus are separate paid packs, and a person only sees the ones their account includes. An area they do not have does not appear at all rather than appearing greyed out, which is why it reads as missing rather than locked.
Switch the pack on for them from the Seats panel on the team page. It appears on their side within about a minute, with no restart and no reinstall.
If every seat is taken
The counter at the top of the Seats panel shows how many are in use, for example 5 / 5 used. When it is full you cannot assign another seat. Either take a seat back from someone who no longer needs one, or add seats from the billing page.
How do I know it worked?
Their row in the Seats panel gets a green seated label and the counter goes up. On their side, the download gives them a file instead of sending them to billing, and after signing in with the right GitHub account codus opens to the normal workspace.
Still stuck
If they hold a seat, are signed in as the right GitHub account, and codus still will not work, that is worth reporting. Tell us their GitHub username, how far through the steps above they got, and the exact wording of anything on their screen.
