What is a seat, and can I use more than one computer?
A Codus licence covers an active computer. You can sign into more than one computer with the same GitHub account, but how many can run at once depends on that account's available licences. Check Licenses in use on Billing; there is no universal two-computer allowance.
Before you start
Use the GitHub account that owns the plan, has an assigned team seat, or has a valid access grant. A team seat assignment gives a teammate access; merely joining the organisation does not.
Check your capacity
- Sign in to Billing with the same GitHub account as the desktop.
- Read the licence total and Licenses in use, rather than assuming a payment quantity or a count of email addresses is the device limit.
- If you need to move between computers, stop using Codus on the old device or use the available device-release control. Allow the live list to refresh.
- If you genuinely need more computers active together than your capacity allows, ask the plan owner to review the plan before purchasing anything.
One person using two computers does not need two different GitHub accounts. Conversely, two different people should not share a GitHub login to avoid assigning a team seat.
Team seats and modules
The Seats panel on Team shows assigned members. An owner or admin can assign or revoke seats within the plan's capacity. The device count on Billing answers a different question: which computers are currently using the signed-in account's licences.
Modules are separate from base access. Some are included through a promotion or grant; others require paid activation. See module access and check the current account before buying an add-on.
How do I know it worked?
The intended GitHub account can open Codus, and Billing shows the expected total and live devices. A historical device record in a support conversation is not proof that device is still consuming a licence.
