How do I change an agent's provider, model or reasoning?
Use the provider selector at the bottom of a quadrant or Brain to choose its coding agent. Use the adjacent agent settings button for Model and Reasoning, where the selected provider supports those controls.
Before you start
A provider is the program doing the work. An account is your sign-in to that provider. A model is the AI it uses; reasoning controls how much thinking it is asked to do. Changing one is not proof that the others changed.
The selector includes Claude, Codex, Muse, Grok, OpenCode, Antigravity, GLM and LM Studio. Availability depends on installation and configuration on your computer. A listed option is not a promise of access to every model or platform. Provider subscriptions and usage charges remain separate.
Change the provider
- Focus the intended quadrant or Brain.
- Open its provider selector. Not installed options need setup before you can choose them. Sign in on launch requires authentication.
- Choose an available provider and let Codus finish switching.
- Wait for the target session to be ready before sending more work.
Codus carries conversation context across a supported handoff and retains provider-native sessions. This is not a transfer of running tools or background processes between providers. If Codus says the terminal is busy, let work finish or deliberately stop it before retrying.
Change a model or reasoning level
- Click agent settings beside the provider selector.
- Choose Model or Reasoning from the offered options.
- Read session and Next start labels. They distinguish the detected running choice from the configured choice.
- Wait for any safe session restart or resume to finish.
Options depend on the provider. A disabled control or absent model is not fixed by repeatedly clicking it. Check the provider's access and installation first. The intelligence indicator is a Codus comparison aid, not a guarantee of quality for your task.
How do I know it worked?
The target provider is active and answers. The settings show the intended session model after detection. For account changes, check Switch status, not the provider label alone.
