Can my billing email differ from my Codus GitHub account?
Yes. Your billing contact email and the email displayed by GitHub can differ. Codus access follows the GitHub account that owns the subscription or seat, not a match between two email strings. Changing a contact email does not move a subscription, create another user or copy project history.
Before you start
Find the GitHub username shown in Codus and the one used on Billing. A username is the name after github.com/ on the person's profile, not their email address.
If payment succeeded but access looks wrong
- Compare the GitHub accounts signed into the desktop and website.
- Open Billing using the account that bought the plan. Check the active plan and licence total.
- If the subscription is on a different GitHub account from the one containing your work, contact Customer support before buying again.
- Provide the two GitHub usernames and the receipt or subscription reference privately. Never send card numbers, passwords or authentication tokens.
Support can investigate an account mismatch. An email typed into chat is not proof of account ownership, and a transfer must be explicitly confirmed; do not assume it happened because a contact email changed.
Renewals and teammates
Renewals belong to the subscription and its billing setup. Adding a teammate or changing the receipt email does not create a new renewal or automatically cancel that person's separate Solo plan. Any move or cancellation needs separate confirmation.
If your goal is more computers for the same person, check device capacity first. If it is another person, invite their GitHub account and assign a seat.
How do I know it worked?
The intended GitHub account shows the correct access and licence capacity on Billing, and the desktop uses that same account. For an assisted transfer, also obtain confirmation of which subscription will renew and whether any old subscription remains active.
