How do I start the agent in a quadrant?
Assign a project folder, click start in the quadrant header, then choose an action under your provider. Clicking start opens a menu; it does not launch work by itself.
Before you start
Install and sign in to the coding agent you want. The menu lists supported providers with not installed or sign in on launch when applicable. An unavailable provider must be installed before its actions work.
Choose an action
- Select the intended project quadrant and check its folder name.
- Click start.
- Under the provider you want, choose:
- boot project: asks the agent to inspect this project, start needed services and verify its preview. Desktop projects use their app window rather than a browser-only preview.
- start unbooted: opens the agent without asking it to start project services.
- execute sidebar tasks: asks it to process actionable tasks for this folder. If none are queued, there is no work to start.
- Read the agent's result or answer any remaining setup question.
Do not use boot project as a command to erase conversation history. Boot requests project setup; conversation resume and provider handoff are separate behaviour. After reopening Codus, saved conversation does not mean old background processes are running.
Switching providers or seeing a busy warning
Use provider, model and reasoning settings. If a session is busy, let it finish or stop the intended task before retrying. Repeated start clicks do not resolve an unfinished operation.
How do I know it worked?
The intended provider opens in the correct quadrant. A boot reports its service and preview checks; an unbooted start waits for your request; executing tasks updates their progress and completion records.
