How do I share a plan with someone who doesn't have codus?

Create a view-only share link for the plan, then send it. Anyone with the link opens the plan in a browser at app.trycodus.com, with no codus account and no sign-in. They see your plan live and read-only: they can look and follow along as it changes, but they cannot edit it. You create the link from the plan on your codus desktop, and you can revoke it at any time.

What the recipient sees

When someone opens your link, they land on the plan itself, laid out as its diagram of boxes and connections. In the corner a small label shows the plan's title and the words "Shared view · live · view-only". If the plan has sub-plans, they can click in to those and use a breadcrumb to step back to the top. The view updates by itself as you change the plan, so they always see the current version. They cannot move, edit, or delete anything.

They do not need codus, a GitHub account, or a login. The link itself is the key.

Steps: create the link

You make the link on the codus desktop app, on the plan you want to share.

  1. Open the plan.
  2. Open the plan's menu and choose Share plan….
  3. In the Share plan panel, tap + Create share link. It reads "Creating…" for a moment. The note there confirms the model: "Anyone with the link can view this plan live — no codus account needed."
  4. The new link is copied to your clipboard automatically. You can also tap Copy next to it (it reads "Copied!" once done).
  5. Send that link to whoever needs it, by message, email, or however you like.

Each link is listed under Active links with the date you created it and the label "view-only".

How do I know it worked?

Paste the link into a browser yourself. You should see the plan with the "Shared view · live · view-only" label and no way to edit it. Make a change to the plan on your desktop and watch the shared view update on its own.

Revoking a link

To cut off access, open Share plan… again and tap Revoke next to the link. Its tooltip warns you: "Revoke this link — anyone using it will lose access immediately." Anyone who had that link can no longer open the plan.

Common problems

  • My recipient sees "This share link is no longer valid." The link is wrong or the plan no longer exists. Create a fresh link and send that.
  • My recipient sees "This share link has been revoked or expired." The link was revoked or has run out. The page tells them to "Ask the owner of the plan for a fresh link." Make a new one from Share plan….
  • The Share plan panel says there are no links. It reads "No active share links. Create one above to share this plan." Tap + Create share link to make your first one.
