Can I use SuperWhisper instead of Codus Whisper?

Yes. An external dictation app can insert text into a focused Codus input. SuperWhisper is optional; Codus also has its own Codus Whisper settings. You do not need both running for voice input.

Before you start

For SuperWhisper installation, supported platforms, models and pricing, use its official website. Those are separate from your Codus plan. Follow the permissions requested by the dictation app you chose; permissions granted to another app do not automatically apply to Codus.

Use an external dictation app

  1. Configure the dictation app using its own setup guide.
  2. Choose a recording shortcut that does not also start Codus Whisper.
  3. Open Codus and click the intended Chat input or Agent terminal.
  4. Start and stop recording with that app's shortcut.
  5. Review the inserted text before sending it to the agent.

You can keep Codus Whisper off under Settings → Codus Whisper when using another tool. Do not bind two dictation apps to the same shortcut and assume Codus chooses between them.

If no text appears

First check whether the dictation app produced a transcript. No transcript points to its recording or transcription step; a transcript that never reaches Codus points to input focus or insertion permissions. Try a harmless text field before repeating a long recording. See dictation troubleshooting.

How do I know it worked?

Recognised text appears in the intended Codus input. That is different from sending the request: confirm what was inserted, then send it yourself unless you deliberately enabled a send action.
