How do I check Claude or Codex usage and switch accounts?
Click Claude or Codex in the bottom status bar to see that provider's account usage. Use Switch all or the focused quadrant's account buttons to request an account change, then open Switch status to check which running sessions have applied it.
Before you start
Provider sign-ins are separate from your Codus GitHub sign-in and subscription. You need access to the account you choose. Adding an account does not buy a plan or increase its provider limits.
Read or refresh usage
- Open Claude or Codex in the status bar.
- Read the named usage windows and reset information. Providers may report different windows.
- Click Refresh usage to request a new reading.
Usage out of date shows last-known figures, not current usage. Usage refresh delayed can mean a provider rate limit; repeated refreshes will not remove that limit. Usage unavailable is not zero usage. Sign-in required or a Sign in again action means the login needs attention. Stale figures alone do not prove you are signed out.
A Default login and a Saved login can refer to the same email. They are not two subscriptions or twice the allowance. Codus groups matching accounts for display; separate login choices can still exist. Do not remove a working login merely because its email is familiar.
Add or reconnect an account
- Under Accounts, click + Sign in, or choose Sign in again on the affected account.
- Complete the provider's browser sign-in using the account you intend.
- Return to Codus and refresh usage. Cancel sign-in stops an unfinished attempt.
Change one quadrant or all matching sessions
- For one quadrant, focus it and select an account under Switch Quadrant [number] to.
- For all matching Claude or Codex terminals, including hidden tabs and Brains, click that account's Switch all.
- Pinned terminals stay on their assigned account unless you enable Include pinned terminals in Switch all.
- Open Switch status.
Selected default is the choice for future launches, not proof that every live terminal has moved.
Understand Switch status
- Waiting for idle: the session has work in progress; Codus waits for a safe prompt.
- Switching: the account change is being applied.
- Verified: Codus confirmed the change for that session.
- Needs attention: read the error before using the offered retry.
- Next launch: the setting applies when the terminal starts.
- Cancelled: the queued change was cancelled.
A previously verified entry may later say Session stopped, Session changed or Terminal unavailable. That is history, not verification of a different current session. Use Cancel or Retry only on the intended row.
How do I know it worked?
Switch status shows the intended current account as Verified for the terminal you will use. The status-bar percentage and selected-default badge alone do not establish this.
