Why doesn't Ctrl+V paste in the Codus terminal on Windows?

If Ctrl+V does nothing in a Codus terminal on Windows, Ctrl+C never copies, and only Ctrl+Shift+V pastes, update to Codus 0.2.193 or later. Update through Settings → Updates, then fully quit Codus, including from the system tray, and open it again.

What was happening

A terminal sends Ctrl plus a letter to the running program as a control code, which is why Ctrl+C stops a command. Before 0.2.193 the Codus terminal on Windows did the same with Ctrl+V: the running program received a control code instead of your clipboard, so nothing appeared. At a plain PowerShell prompt it sometimes looked as if it worked, because PowerShell itself treats that code as paste, which made the problem confusing. Ctrl+Shift+V pasted because the terminal leaves that combination to the app itself. On a Mac none of this applied, since Cmd+V and Cmd+C are handled by the system.

Shortcuts from 0.2.193 on Windows and Linux

Action Shortcut
Paste Ctrl+V, Shift+Insert, Ctrl+Shift+V, or right-click with nothing selected
Copy Select text, then Ctrl+C, Ctrl+Shift+C, Ctrl+Insert, or right-click
Stop the running command Ctrl+C with nothing selected

Pasting a copied image saves it to a file and inserts the file's path, so a coding agent can read it. On a Mac, Cmd+V and Cmd+C work as before, and right-click now copies a selection or pastes.

If it still happens after updating

  1. Check Settings → Updates shows 0.2.193 or later.
  2. Click inside the terminal first so it has the keyboard focus. A click on the panel around it is not enough.
  3. Make sure no text is selected in the terminal when you want Ctrl+C to stop a command.

Report a repeated failure

Send support the Codus version from Settings → Updates, which shortcut you pressed, whether text was selected, and what the terminal showed.
