Codus is launching in a few days

Ferencz KaszoniMay 23, 20264 min

We're a few days away from opening Codus to everyone.

Private beta has been running since April. Four autonomous engineers in parallel, a central planner stitching the work together, an embedded browser for live verification — all of it on real production codebases, every day, with real users. The thing works. It works better than I expected.

Now we’re cutting the last release-blocking issues and getting the download ready. In a few days the button on the homepage stops saying “Ready in a few days” and starts saying “Download for Mac.”

What's changing on launch day

A short list, because it's the honest one:

  • Downloads open. Apple Silicon and Intel builds, code-signed and notarized. No waitlist, no invite code.
  • Pricing settles at $20 per developer per month. Unlimited usage. No seat traps. Bring your own Claude Code or Codex account — that’s where the agent runs, so we never meter you and we never see your tokens.
  • Cloud planner is included. Task routing, dependency graph, cross-quadrant status — wired up out of the box.
  • Team plans go on the waitlist. Real-time team sync, skill profiles, SSO, audit log — that lands shortly after launch. Drop your email on the pricing page if you want to be in the first cohort.

Why the few-day pause

Three things, in order of how much they kept me up:

1. Auto-update — once thousands of Macs are running Codus, the upgrade path has to be silent and reversible. We’re finishing the differential-update channel and the rollback fence.

2. Quadrant isolation under load — four agents writing four diffs at the same time stresses Electron, the file system, and the Claude Code runtime in ways no synthetic test catches. We found two race conditions in the last week. We want to find zero in the next one.

3. The first-launch experience — installing Codus and being productive in under 10 minutes is the whole pitch. If a first-time user has to read documentation to get their first task running, we’ve already lost. The boot flow is what we’re polishing.

None of these are blockers for power users. All of them are blockers for the next thousand.

How to be ready

Three things, that's it:

  • A Mac. macOS 11+. Apple Silicon is preferred; Intel works.
  • A Claude Code or Codex account. That’s the engine Codus drives. You bring your own subscription, your own tokens, your own usage limits. We don’t resell agent capacity.
  • A repo you want to ship faster. Codus is most useful on real work with real branches and real PRs. If you have something where four parallel patches a day would meaningfully change your velocity, that’s the codebase to point it at first.

What comes after the launch

The roadmap for the rest of 2026, in priority order: team plans (cloud planner shared across a team, with skill-based routing and audit), Windows + Linux (same engine, native installers, after the macOS install base is stable), and the cloud planner public API so other tools — Linear, Jira, your in-house ticket system — can drop tasks directly into a quadrant.

We're shipping the foundation first. Everything else builds on it.

See you in a few days

If you’ve been following along and waiting for the download button to light up — it’s about to. If you’re new here, the quickest way to understand what Codus is, is to watch four AI engineers each finish a different ticket on your repo at the same time. That’s the whole product.

A few more days.

See it instead of reading about it.

Codus is out now on macOS.
