# How do I run the video team on a project?

Open the project and click **Run team** at the top. codus starts the Creative Director straight away if there is a free slot, or queues the project if the team is busy elsewhere. From there the team edits your footage on its own, and you can watch it work in the right column or come back later for the finished cut.

## Before you start

- The project needs some footage. Record it or import it first. See [How do I record footage for a video?](how-do-i-record-footage.md).
- Fill in the **Brief** so the team knows what you want. See [How do I tell the team what video I want?](how-do-i-brief-the-video-team.md).
- If you recorded with **Edit automatically** switched on, the team already started when you stopped, so you do not need to run it by hand.

## Step 1: Click Run team

1. Open the project in the **video** tab.
2. Click **Run team** at the top right of the workspace.
3. A small box titled **Run team** appears. It is for an optional note to the team, appended to its instructions. Leave it empty for a normal run, or type something like a special request. Two ready-made chips are there too, **Continue after a crash** and **Fresh start**.
4. Click **Run**.

The scheduler starts the project now if a slot is free. If the team is already busy on another project, yours waits its turn and shows as queued until a slot opens.

## Step 2: Watch it work (optional)

The right column is your window into the run.

- **Live View** at the top mirrors the page an agent is looking at, live.
- The **Team** row shows the Creative Director and the specialists. Click any lit name to switch the terminal and Live View to that agent. A coloured dot shows each one's state: idle, working, waiting on you, done, or errored.

You do not have to watch. You can leave the tab, or even close the codus window, and the team keeps running.

## Step 3: If it needs you

If the team hits something it cannot decide on its own, the project gets a red **Needs your input** dot in the left tree and the agent's dot turns orange. Open that agent's terminal in the **Team** row and answer it there, and it carries on.

## Stopping or cancelling

While a project is running, the **Run team** button becomes **Stop** (or **Cancel** if it is still queued). Click it to stop the team and free up the slot. You can run it again afterwards.

## How much does it make?

How much the team produces (a quick cut, or the full treatment with graphics, thumbnails and a vertical version) is the edit scope. You choose it when you record, on the recorder popover. A project you built by hand and imported footage into runs the full treatment by default. To change the scope, the simplest route is to record with the scope you want, or say what you want in the **Run team** note or the **Brief**.

## How do I know it worked?

- The button reads **Stop** while the team is working, and the **Team** row lights up.
- Finished renders appear in the **Versions** tab, newest first, each with a quality-check verdict. See [Where do I find the finished video?](where-do-i-find-the-finished-video.md).
- The project's dot in the left tree settles to a done colour when the run finishes.

## Common problems

**"I clicked Run team but nothing seems to happen."** Check the button. If it says **Cancel**, your project is queued behind another one and will start when a slot frees up. If it says **Stop**, it is already running, so open the **Team** row to watch.

**"It stopped and is asking me something."** Look for the orange dot in the **Team** row, click that agent, and answer in its terminal. The run resumes once you reply.

**"There is no footage to edit."** The team needs a recording or an imported clip in the project first. See [How do I record footage for a video?](how-do-i-record-footage.md).
