# What is the codus web app at app.trycodus.com?

The web app at **app.trycodus.com** is the companion to the codus Mac app. It lets you reach your projects from your phone or any browser, so you can push a task to a computer running codus, watch an agent work, and jot notes while you are away from your desk. It shows the same tasks, folders, and notes as your desktop, because both read the same GitHub account. You sign in with GitHub, the same account you use on the desktop.

## What you can do with it

- **Push a task to your Mac.** Create a task on one of your project folders and tap a button to run it on a computer that has codus open. See [How do I run a task on my computer from my phone?](push-a-task-from-your-phone.md).
- **Watch your live desktops.** See which of your machines are running codus right now and what their agents are doing. See [How do I see my live desktops?](the-quadrants-tab.md).

You do not do your coding here. The web app is the remote control; the work runs on the Mac.

## The three tabs

Above the main area, a row of buttons switches between three views. codus opens on **Quadrants** by default.

- **List** shows your tasks across every project, with an **Open** and a **Closed** count, filters, and a search box. This is where you read, filter, and follow tasks.
- **Quadrants** shows your live desktops. Each machine that has checked in recently appears as its own section with a 2x2 board of project cards, so you can see at a glance what every agent is doing.
- **Notes** is for quick capture. Pick a project, type a note, and it lands in that project on the desktop.

## It mirrors your desktop

The web app does not hold a separate copy of your work. Your folders, tasks, and notes live in your codus account, and both the desktop and the web app read the same account. So a task you create on your phone shows up on the desktop, and a note you save on the desktop shows up on your phone. The page refreshes itself every few seconds, so you rarely need to reload.

Two things behave differently, and it helps to know why:

- **Your folders** stay forever once your desktop has synced them, whether or not the desktop is currently on.
- **Your live desktops** only appear while a computer is running codus and checking in. Close codus and that machine drops off the **Quadrants** tab within about a minute.
