# Why do links open in the wrong Chrome window or stop opening?

If you quit your normal Chrome but leave the Codus Agent Browser running, macOS can open links from other apps in that remaining Chrome instance. If links open there or stop opening correctly, try fully quitting all Chrome instances and reopening your usual browser first. The agent browser runs separately, so you can see two Chrome icons in the Mac's Dock.

## Before you start

Save unfinished browser work and let any Codus task using the agent browser finish. Quitting that browser interrupts the task. These steps are for macOS and do not require reinstalling Chrome or deleting either browser profile.

## Steps

1. Click your normal **Google Chrome** icon in the Dock. In the menu bar, choose **Chrome > Quit Google Chrome**, or press **Command-Q**.
2. Repeat for the other running **Google Chrome** icon, including the Codus Agent Browser. Quit every Chrome instance. Closing a window with its red button can leave the app running; a dot below its Dock icon indicates it is still open. 3. Open your usual browser first. If you normally use Chrome, open **Google Chrome** from **Applications** and select your everyday profile if prompted. You should see your familiar browsing window.
4. Click a web link in another app, such as your email app. Check that the page opens in your usual browser.
5. When you need Agent Browser again, open Codus **Settings > Agent browser** and click **Open agent window**. A disconnected browser can show **Open Chrome to set up**; older versions use **Open agent browser** or **Reopen agent browser**. Check an external link again after it opens.

## Use your normal Chrome window for future agent work

Codus **0.2.183 or later** offers **Settings > Agent browser > Window in your Chrome**. It uses your normal profile with a dedicated agent window, sharing that profile's logins. [Set up its extension](choose-agent-browser-mode.md) before using it. Changing the setting does not quit a separate Agent Browser already running; finish its tasks before closing it. The separate mode remains available if you prefer separate logins.

## How do I know it worked?

A link clicked in another app opens and loads in your usual browser. The Agent Browser can have its own Chrome icon again when reopened; two icons alone do not mean something is broken.

## Did codus change my default browser?

Two Chrome icons represent separate running instances. They do not by themselves show that your Mac's default-browser setting changed. The agent browser has its own browsing profile, but it still uses Google Chrome. If your normal Chrome has quit and the agent instance is still running, an external link can open in the agent instance while the Mac's default-browser setting continues to say Google Chrome. A separate profile does not prevent this.

## If links still do not open correctly

In macOS **System Settings**, find **Default web browser** and check which browser is selected. Choose your usual browser if another one is selected, then retry a link.

If the problem continues or returns after reopening the Agent Browser, contact **Customer support** in codus. Include your codus version, the browser listed as your default, whether one or two Chrome icons are running, and whether the link opens nothing, the wrong profile, or a blank page. This restart sequence is a troubleshooting workaround, not a confirmed fix for every cause of blocked links.
