# How do I make a Brain open its linked workspace tab?

In Codus **0.2.183 or later**, right-click a [Brain](../glossary/what-the-words-mean.md#brain), open **Project settings…**, link its [quadrants](../glossary/what-the-words-mean.md#quadrant), tick **Open a linked tab** and click **Save changes**. Clicking that Brain then reveals the workspace containing its linked quadrant, including when the Brain was already selected. **Open a linked tab** is off by default.

## Before you start

These controls require Codus **0.2.183 or later**. If **Project settings…** is absent, check your installed version and available updates. At least one workspace tab must exist so there is a quadrant to link.

## Link the work and enable navigation

1. Right-click the Brain's name and choose **Project settings…**.
2. Under **Linked quadrants**, find the workspace tab and tick the intended project. Quadrants are grouped by their workspace tab; the same Q1 to Q4 positions appear in different workspaces.
3. Leave **Include quadrants this Brain delegates to** checked to include new work that the Brain hands to quadrants. It is on by default. Earlier work can be selected manually; untick a particular quadrant to leave it out.
4. Under **When I select this Brain**, tick **Open a linked tab**.
5. If several tabs are linked, use **Tab to open** to choose a preferred tab. **Automatic · keep the current tab when linked** keeps a linked tab already visible in this window, otherwise chooses a linked tab in this window before one in another window.
6. Click **Save changes**. Saving does not switch tabs immediately; clicking the Brain does.

A linked tab in another window brings that window forward, restoring it if minimised. This reveals the existing tab; it does not move the quadrant to a different workspace or stop its agent.

## How do I know it worked?

Select an unrelated workspace tab, then click the Brain's name. The intended linked workspace becomes visible. You do not need to select a different Brain first.

## Common problems

**I linked the quadrant, but nothing switches.** Confirm **Open a linked tab** is checked and click **Save changes**. Linking alone leaves navigation off.

**The wrong linked tab opens.** Select the intended tab under **Tab to open** and save. A preferred tab takes priority over Automatic, including a linked tab that is already visible.

**A new delegation changed the links but did not move my view.** That is expected. Delegating work does not switch your visible workspace. Click the Brain when you want to return to its work.

**My chosen tab was closed.** Closed quadrants are removed from links. Select a surviving project in **Linked quadrants** and save again.
